Many people may assume that fan fiction is the by-product of Television and the silver screen, but it is in reality a much bigger thing. Since the creation of heroes and icons, there have been people who write about them. Individuals who lead them on journeys they have never experienced before and take them on adventures that their original creators didn't or couldn't. Maybe the fan writers, prefer to re-write past experiences with an ending or a twist more in line with their own particular agenda. Whichever road the fans take the 'borrowed hero' down, the result is fan fiction.
